Flaas/Valas is first mentioned in the records in 1186. The name is probably derived from the Romanesque word “vall” meaning valley.
The small village in the mountains at an altitude of 1,357 m is the starting point for beautiful easy hikes for everyone. There are many inns on route offering hearty Jause snacks or typical South Tyrolean specialities. Immediately above Flaas/Valas is the Schermoos car park, the ideal starting point for hikes on Salten/Salto and Nobls/Monzoccolo. The village as well as the starting points arebeasily accessible by bus NO. 157.
